Please
consider the following as well:
- Why
a Ragdoll? Why you are seeking a Ragdoll
over another breed of cat?
- Would
you like a quick consultation to determine if the
Ragdoll (or this breeder) is the right cat for you?
Questions we may ask of you:
- Are
you away from home frequently?
(Ragdolls tend to be very attached to their owners
and fare much better with consistent companionship.
If you work during the day, a second cat is recommended
as a companion for your Ragdoll. If you travel
frequently, you should consider taking your Ragdoll
with you.)
- Do
you want an outdoor or indoor cat?
(Ragdolls are strictly an indoors-only cat because
they are overly friendly and less likely to recognize
a threat.)
- Do
you have other cats whose health histories
are unknown?
(Make sure your current cats test negative for
diseases like Feline AIDS and Feline Leukemia
and are free of parasites before bringing a new
cat into the home. You may not be able to return
your cat if it is exposed to health risks.)
- Is
it possible that anyone in your household is allergic
to cats?
(It is best for all household members to visit
the cat first before committing so allergy concerns
may be addressed, if a concern. As above, you
may not be able to return the cat after it's been
exposed to health risks in your household.)
- Can
you commit to the lifetime welfare of the
cat (15-20 years), including consistent,
quality veterinary care?
(We consider your purchase a permanent placement
of the cat and do not want the cat to ever be
under new ownership. We know you can't predict
everything, but we want you to think before purchasing.)
- Do
you want to declaw your new cat?
(Like many cat breeders, Hallmark Ragdolls considers
declawing inhumane and unnecessary and will not
sell to customers who are considering it. Feel
free to ask us about easy, humane alternatives.)
Other
questions or comments
- Feel
free to ask us about any of your own concerns. We
understand it is a two-way street.
- If
you bought from us in the past and want to share your
experiences and photos of your cat with others, please
send them on. We'll consider posting them
to our site!
